Provide the adult population with information, training and financial guidance helps them to properly evaluate how to manage their money. Thus, it is easier to understand the characteristics of different financial products and services, which leads to the making of conscious decisions.
Develop financial education actions for adults is challenging, since old values and habits are deeply rooted. In addition, adults are not included in a regular system of education. Still, they make up the country’s Economically Active Population (EAP) and, with healthier financial choices, will contribute to the development of Brazil.
RETIREES
IBGE data for 2010 indicate that the elderly population will double in the next 25 years, reaching about 32 million Brazilians. Meanwhile, an INSS report of the same year points out that retirees have contracted many debts, especially through payroll loans. This segment also has a low level of education and often needs to deal with family pressures for loans, since they have a fixed income.
A significant part of this population, however, has opted to seek other forms of credit in the financial system, such as payroll loans, and end up finding themselves in a situation of over-indebtedness.
ENEF also develops, through AEF-Brasil and in partnership with the Ministry of Finance (Social Security Secretariat), a financial education project for INSS retirees with income of one to two minimum wages. The objective is to contribute to the reduction of the over-indebtedness of retirees, in order to help them make more conscious decisions regarding the management of their resources.

BOLSA FAMÍLIA WOMEN
The 2010 data from the Single Register of the Ministry of Social Development – MDS – show that 92.5% of those responsible for withdrawing the Bolsa Família benefit are women. Around the world, other initiatives of income transfer, microcredit and solidarity economy have revealed the prominent role of women in the management of their family budget.
ENEF, through AEF-Brasil, develops a financial education project for the women wh are beneficiaries of the Bolsa Família Program of the federal government. With the Ministry of Social Development as its partner, it aims to contribute to improving the management of the family budget in order to stimulate reflection on women’s dreams, life plans and long-term financial planning.
